The Jeans Sex Appeal Even in Your 50's
By Tonipet
One of today's most comfortable wear that I too like wearing is a good-fitting pair of jeans. Don't confuse good-fitting with super-tight jeans, they're two different things. Good-fitting jeans are also much more comfortable than dress pants, corduroys or khakis. I love the stylish yet casual look, which match just about everything in my wardrobe.
However, for some Moms and older women, it is always so frustrating trying to find at least one pair that fits them, or could make them look more appealing. Majority ends up buying jeans that are of a stretch-like material so they fit all of their curves without having anything hanging or sticking out.
Let Me Inspire You
I'm head over heels impressed with women in their 50's or even older who still hold great appeal when wearing jeans. Since older women are always apologizing for their icky feelings that they don't look good anymore, it has what inspired me to write about how to help them feel better about themselves when in jeans.
Middle-aged women can still look appealing. They simply have to try on something that's actually designed for their bodies, something that's cool and flattering. If you think it doesn't fit try another one. Anything that fits well is fine, especially if you have the figure, but again, don't confuse well-fitting with super-tight, or good-fitting with tight-fitting. If they are obviously tight, it may start to look like you are trying to be your own daughter. Remember that at 50, it should look like you know better.
It may take a lot of time to find the right pair, but finding your BEST FIT is your key to help you look like a million bucks in your jeans 50 or otherwise! Transformation can be easy if you work on it.
The Trick
It's not the age of the woman, it's the cut of the jeans.
If you're the mom who has complied to the "jeans with a really high waist and peg legs", then you definitely won't look good. Even a decent 20 or 30 year old butt will look disastrous in those. Some women older than 50 still look really cool in their snug jeans. I think Levi's or Jean star are by this far remained good brands for older women. The high-enough waist style gives a clean look that you don't keep tugging your top down and hitching your pants up.
More Tips
Wear Jeans with Heels
Wearing high heels with your jeans can be head turning. Heels make your legs look longer and long legs are sexy. I think a semi-booted jeans paired with a traditionally-sleeked heel, or a 3-inch heel with a mini platform, gracefully fits middle-aged women.
Why not wear heels in such a way that the jeans fall just below the arch of your foot, or just enough to hide your ankle and some of the top part of the foot, leaving your heel and toes only showing. Trust me, it is sexy, even in a distance.
Don't go for too strappy sandals. I too don't find it suitable for older women. Two to three small straps crossing the foot is enough and will not completely cover the exposed part of your foot. This is best during summer so you can show off those beautiful feet!
Consider a Good Length
Aside from the "just below the arch of your foot" length, experts also suggest on semi-flary jeans an inch off the ground. The wider hems draping over the shoes is most suitable for matured women as a lot of them like their foot being covered.
The whole thing will be pointed to the wide and semi-flared jeans creating a "long-legged" look with only an inch of the shoe showing. Many consider this length as the style length that works well with jeans regardless of age.
I'm not yet 50 but I like only one length for my jeans that's just below the arch of my feet but not lower than my anklebone. I think at 5’4″ my jeans get professionally hemmed from 30 to 33 ” inseams, and I really liked the way it makes me feel looking good.
Jeans with the Perfect Fit
Wear jeans that fit your body shape. You must understand that your jeans have to fit in the rise before they fit anywhere else, which is the crotch. This will give your legs and butt a sexy defined shape that will flatter your figure. Fitting the largest part of you first and then tailor down from there, is your best tip.
If you have large hip, it follows the size of your booty and thighs as well, so you may need to tailor in the waist. To hide those fats on the hips that you hate it when it spills over the top of your jeans, wear a woven shirt or something loose on the top to glide in the area rather than stick to it. An ordinary shirt would not help as the hem can be smooching a lot up as you move around. If you think your legs are big, don’t wear boot-cut jeans as they tend to make the legs look thicker than they are. Look for a tapered leg.
If you’re the curvy middle-aged, pick the jeans with a small waist that comes down larger through the rear and hips to accommodate that booty. Some women this age find a boot-cut very convenient. They fit the hip better and the slight flare at the bottom gives a great balance, so they look good!
A Special Tip for Large-Waisted Women
So your only option is to buy men's jeans to cater the large waist whether or not the crotch fits right. Why not find a clothing industry or a special seamstress to cater for those special curves? This is a privelege that says no size of the hips, butt or legs can hinder how a woman can look cool and appealing in jeans. There are seamstresses everywhere!
You actually don't have to spend large amount of money for designer jeans. If you can't afford one, there are lower priced brands that offer good fit and color. All you need to do is go try them on for a nice fit. It doesn't mean they're cheap that they can't fit well. Remember that even if you buy cheaper jeans if you match them with the right shoe then you can dress them up without being overdressed.
If you would like to try customized jeans, you can be original with DMJ.
The Jag Jeans Appeal
My first jeans many many years ago was made by Jag... until today I still prefer Jag jeans. I'm continually amazed how this designer jeans perfectly fit just about every size and every woman. They are really stylish, and with a bit of stretch throughout the leg and in the waistband, they are great for all ages from teens, to young moms, older Moms and middle-aged women.
With a perfect fit such as Jag's anytime, I think a bit high price tag is pretty reasonable. I've always loved Jag jeans, but I don't buy all Jag, it's expensive!

Good job Steph. I appreciate your mom, she’s a woman who hasn’t lost perspective for good clothing and a sense of fashion that she can carry off. You’re a source of all fashion knowledge for her and she’ll be wearing those jeans feeling boomerful-good!!
Have you tried nice tailored, trouser-style jeans? I do have similar moments myself about the “flattering” thing so I never purchase jeans straight off the rack without taking too much time fitting. If the bottom piece fits, the top is often way too big…On the flip side, if the top fits properly then the bottoms are generally far too tight... perhaps the fun moments of finding the right fit. It's why I prefer Jag. Thanks for sharing, you're awesome :-)
I actually had never heard of Jag, but I will keep my eye out for that brand. There are certain brands that I know never fit me, like Levis (unfortunately). Sometimes Banana Republic and Gap release special jeans that look nice on me. Somehow, women on TV who are curvy but not tall (like me) always look sexy in their jeans, so I'm always comparing my jeans to those standards. Too bad, those women probably spend a fortune on clothes. I guess you get what you pay for! Until I hit the jackpot, I'll have to keep searching for an affordable brand with the right fit. Like I said, I'll keep an eye out for jag.
And you see that I rambled? Told you I could spend ages talking about jeans.
Haha always wondered why Levis don't like 5'4 gal butts, it never fits on me either, but it's great brand. I bet you’ll like Jag. They may not be fashionable for some as Jags among the oldest brands, but they feel good it has remained on top of my list, and they fit best when I am smack in the middle of my healthy weight range, so that’s a good thing. I should say it was used to me and I was used to it :=)
This might help http://shop.jag.com.au/Womens/WomensProducts/?cat= I was always in love with the really nice cut trouser style. Goodluck!

This is true. A lot of jeans are just a bad cut, and with the variety of shapes, it can be difficult for women to find form-fitting jeans that are flattering.
I for one could talk for ages about jeans. I'm young, but I always have trouble finding flattering pants. I'm 5' 4" too, so the jeans are ALWAYS too long (I like to think of the rolled-up look as my own style, unless they're hemmed), and the are too wide in the leg, too narrow in the hip, and have an annoying flap that sticks out at my lower back. It honestly drives me up a wall.
My mom is in her 50's, and for a long time had resigned to the high waist and peg legs. One day I was shopping with her and convinced her to try on a more modern cut, and boy did it change everything! She had so much more confidence, and she even bought high heels. People may think that clothes are a superficial thing to worry about, but they really do have power to improve your self confidence and mood.
